BMUN LXVII Is in Less Than Two Weeks! Get Ready!

Hello Delegates!

Berkeley Model United Nations LXVII is less than two weeks away! Your positions papers are turned in. You've done your research! What now?

Here are some general and committee tips and tricks!

The first thing we want to emphasize to you, the delegates, is that Berkeley Model United Nations prides itself in creating environments for learning and growth. We are all here to support you in this learning process so do not be afraid to ask questions!

As soon as y'all receive your position paper grades and comments, take some time to look through what we have written in the comments! There is always room for improvement (and for now, time!) to make your proposed solutions the best that they can be. Some good questions you and your partner should be thinking about:
  • How can we communicate our proposed solutions in a clear and easily understood way? How can we do this in a 1 minute 30 second speech? How can we do this in a 30 second moderated caucus?
  • What opposition can we expect to our prosed solutions?
  • Which countries might agree with us? Which countries might disagree with us?
  • What are some points we really don't want to compromise on?
  • What are our goals within the committee?
  • Have you responded to UNHRC BMUN LXVII blog posts? (highly encouraged!)
  • Do we want to print out our position papers to bring as a reference in committee? Is there any other information we want to have with us in committee (remember there is an unmod tech policy!)?
  • Do our solutions currently address all sections of the SMART resolution framework? Is it specific (ie clear on the who, what, where, when, and why)? Is it measurable (what are our metrics of success)? Is it actionable (what are each of the steps that need to be taken)? Is it realistic (does this follow our country's policy)? Is it time bound (what time frame does this action take place in)?
If you are unsure about any of our conference policies or want to brush up on parliamentary procedure visit learn.bmun.org!
Hope you are all excited as we are for committee! See you soon!
